Last night, while discussing our Thirsty Thursday plans, Grace was telling me there was a woman who came to the bar and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea. She specified that she did not want any tea. I guess she didn’t understand there was no tea in the drink. Today’s drink, Spiked Pink Lemonade, has no pink lemonade! Heck, there is no lemon involved anywhere but I swear it tastes like pink lemonade! Well, to me at least.
It started when I was shopping around for new juices/mixers. OJ and Pineapple juice was getting boring and I wanted to liven it up a bit. I found a bottle of Tampico Island Punch and thought it would be perfect for a drink. It had the OJ and Pineapple along with some other tropical fruits. Perfecto! I came home and started playing with proportions. I got it to the point where you can’t taste the alcohol but after one or two drinks you can bet you are going to feel it!
We start the Spiked Pink Lemonade with Captain Morgan White Rum. Captain Morgan White Rum is inspired by the sparkling waters of the Caribbean. Created using fine cane molasses, Captain Morgan White Rum is five times distilled, resulting in a rum as smooth as the Captain himself. It is found at nearly every ABC store nationwide and retails for $15.99.
Along with the White Rum we’re going to use Tampico Island Punch, a little bit of Midori and Sprite. Shake it all together with ice, strain it into a glass, and voila! I love this drink and so cannot wait to try it with some other juices. The Captain Morgan definitely brings the drink together so do not even think about substituting it.
Come mister tally man, tally me bananas… Does that make anyone else think of Beetlejuice? That was my first thought when I tried the Blue Chair Bay Banana Rum (sent to us for Thirsty Thursday!) I couldn’t believe how smooth it was, not like some of the other banana flavored and/or infused liquors I’ve had. Some just set your throat on fire and I’m not a big fan of that. After a bit of experimenting with the Blue Chair Bay Banana Rum Grace came up with this week’s Thirsty Thursday drink.
If you happen to be a fan of banana cake then this shot is definitely a winner. I added my own twist to lessen the alcohol content that you can try as well.
Blue Chair Bay is a collection of premium-blended rums by singer-songwriter Kenny Chesney. There are four original flavors – Banana, Coconut, Spiced Coconut, and White. Now I’m a huge Kenny Chesney fan so immediately I was excited to try his rum. Like I said before, the banana rum is extremely smooth. It is perfect for creating tropical inspired drinks or even simple cocktails like this one.
The Blue Chair Bay website has some great recipes that I can’t wait to try. I used the “Where to Buy” option on their website to see where I need to go to find more Blue Chair Bay rums. Turns out there are a ton of places to get it nearby! Be sure to check it out so you can get yours ASAP. With the holidays upon us I think the Spiced Coconut rum would make some holiday guests super happy! What a great replacement to the tired Eggnog people normally drink.
I can highly recommend the Blue Chair Bay brand and the recipes on their site. And I’m not just saying this because of my lingering crush on Mr. Chesney. So, head out and pick some up and then be sure to connect with Blue Chair Bay on their social media channels.
I’m super excited to be able to give one Simple Beautiful Life reader a bottle of Banana Rum from Blue Chair Bay! This giveaway is open to US readers who are 21 and over. Good luck and remember to always drink responsibly!
