For as long as I can remember dogs have been a big part of my family. My very first dog was named Smokey. Some of my earliest memories are of me “riding” her. She was a German Shepard/Bull Mastiff mix and while she looked intimidating and had a vicious bark she was a big sweetheart. Smokey was my very first best friend, but not my last.
Over the years there have been many dogs brought into the family and I can’t tell you how may canine cousins, nieces/nephews, and brothers/sisters I’ve had. I can tell you that we hesitate to call them pets. Around here blood isn’t what makes family – it’s the undeniable love and devotion we have that make us family.
8 years ago my ex rescued a tiny puppy from an abandoned home. She was maybe 4 months old and emaciated. Despite being in such poor health she wagged her tail and excitedly yipped as he got closer to her. As we nursed her back to health we noticed how happy and loving she was. Today, Jackie is a thriving, energetic little sister. My mom adopted her (since we already had a houseful) and I couldn’t think of a better home for her.
Jackie has always been a spoiled girl and has never eaten commercial dog food outside of her treats. She also has never worn a collar or leash (for more than a couple of minutes). She made it clear that those things weren’t for her by falling over and refusing to move.
My newest niece is Butterball. She’s another rescue dog and is the apple of my brother’s eye. We don’t know her full back story but judging by the way she flinches when strangers go to pet her we believe she was abused. That makes us love her more.
Some people think we’re crazy but we have always given our dogs real food. Like, food cooked while our own food is cooked; that’s what you do for family, right? That’s why we love the Nudges® brand dog treats – they are real-food inspired and made in the USA with only USA-sourced protein.
Nutrition is just one of the key dimensions of complete care and health of your dog. Socialization, mental stimulation, and grooming are other key points. Making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved is what we strive for. That’s why we only give them food that we would eat ourselves. The new Nudges® Grillers and Sizzlers Treats (conveniently found in the pet section at Walmart) are the perfect way for us to give our four-legged family members something special. We’ll be trying the Jerky Cuts value size (36oz) next!
How do you show your best friend you care?

Summer symbolizes many different things for different people. For pet owners it may symbolize the start of flea and tick season. That’s enough to start dreading summer, well for me at least. I dread the impending parasitic bites and treatments that come with ridding a pet of fleas. That’s why this year we decided to start early.
We used PetArmor Plus Flea Treatment® on Giblet a few days ago. It’s comparable to Frontline Plus and lasts for 30 days. That’s right – 1 application lasts 30 days!
Did you know: The fleas and ticks on your pet are only a small percentage of the number in the animal’s environment. Fleas and their eggs can live outside in grass, soil and crevices in sidewalks and live inside in rugs and carpets, floor cracks and bedding.
What is PetArmor Plus?
PetArmor Plus has the same active ingredients as FRONTLINE® Plus — but costs up to 40 percent less than vet prices! It contains fipronil, the No. 1 veterinarian-recommended active ingredient, and (s)- methoprene to protect against fleas, flea eggs, flea larvae, ticks and chewing lice.
PetArmor Plus helps protect the entire family from illness by killing ticks that may transmit Lyme disease. Fast acting and long lasting, it stops the reinfestation cycle by killing flea eggs and larvae.
He was pretty curious when we were getting ready to put the Pet Armor Plus on him. Maybe he was just excited to know he wouldn’t be getting those pesky varmints on him this year.
He was very still while we put the treatment on his back, per the directions. That is always a good sign because usually he’s skittish about anything being put on him. I’ve already seen fleas on several of my friends pets this year and I’m excited knowing Giblet is protected!
You should know: PetArmor Plus is meant for puppies over 4 lbs. or kittens over 1.5 lbs. and 8 weeks of age or older
If your pet has ever had fleas or ticks then you know how much of a pain they are to get rid of. Starting early means you’re ahead of the pests. That means you won’t have to watch them suffer as fleas and ticks are turning them into an all you can eat buffet.
PetArmor® Plus is not manufactured or distributed by Merial. FRONTLINE® is a registered trademark of Merial. Pricing comparison based on average veterinarian retail price survey of FRONTLINE® Plus (December 2014) and MSRP of PetArmor® Plus (January 2015). Data on file.
Have you ever owned a dog or a cat? Chances are you have and chances are even higher that you’ve seen them scratching at something. Sometimes a pets itch can be so bad it leaves them crying. For me it breaks my heart to see a pet in any kind of discomfort which is why I’m so excited to tell you about SeaBuck 7 for Dogs & Cats.
SeaBuck 7 Omega 7 Oil
Designed to potentially extend the life of your pet when used once per day. The SeaBuck 7 Omega 7 Oil supports heart health, digestive function and joint health. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory.
Just a half dropper is enough to help promote good health for Giblet. Yes, his name is Giblet. The Omega 7 Oil doesn’t smell that great but I haven’t noticed any issues with Giblet not wanting to eat when it’s added to his food.
What I really love about the SeaBuck 7 Omega 7 Oil is that it helps with excessive shedding. This time of year the hair is coming out and Giblet is no exception. I can’t wait to see how the product helps with that. I know my floors and furniture will be thankful!
SeaBuck 7 Skin Relief Stick
This is my favorite product of the 2. I don’t know if his skin is just irritated or what but Giblet has been scratching like crazy. There are time when his scratching makes him yelp in pain and that’s just heartbreaking. The SeaBuck 7 Skin Relief Stick is all natural, with Beeswax and Sea Buckthorn Oils as the base.
We use it at the first sign of skin discomfort and Giblet loves the special treatment. He’ll sit still while we put it on him and does a happy dance afterwards. You can see how much he’s shedding by looking at the above picture!
Normally I’m leery when choosing products for a pet. I love that everything from SeaBuck 7 is all natural and doesn’t contain dangerous or questionable ingredients. I can recommend them for pet owners looking to improve pet health and well being. Be sure to check out everything SeaBuck 7 has to offer and connect with them on their social media channels.
