Having rosacea has sent me on a journey of epic proportions. On my journey I’ve tried countless concealers, foundations, powders and primers. It’s exciting to try new products and see how each fares in helping me hide these rosy red splotches on my face. My most recent trial was with the L’Oréal Paris visible Lift Blur Foundation.
L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Foundation Overview
You know how every beauty product has a spiel – hides fine lines, covers dark circles, makes imperfections disappear etc… Here is L’Oréal Paris’s spiel for their new foundation:
L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Foundation is L’Oréal Paris’ first makeup with exclusive blur technology formulated to instantly blur lines and wrinkles. Signs of aging disappear as Visible Lift Blur Foundation hides dark spots, large pores and smooths uneven texture so you get a flawless finish you can see and feel.
L’Oréal Paris Visible Lift Blur Foundation contains SPF 18 and is available in 12 shades. It retails for approximately $14.99 for 1.4 fl oz. and is available at mass food and drug retailers nationwide starting July 2014.
I am fortunate enough to not have those fine lines, wrinkles or dark circles. I do have plenty of imperfections in the form of pimples and of course rosacea blotchiness. I also have fairly large pores that other foundations have only made look even bigger. I was very eager to see how the Visible lift Blur Foundation worked to minimize their appearance. I was also curious to see if it worked to smooth these uneven textures on my face.
Here’s what happened.
I started how I normally do when applying foundation – exfoliate and prime. Since I use foundation all over getting rid of dead skin is crucial to preventing that flaky & cakey face I dread. Primer helps to smooth the skin as well as keep the foundation from sinking into your pores and causing pimples.
While I was waiting for my primer to set I did a color swatch on my wrist to see how well I did in my blind picking of a foundation shade. I thought I went too dark at first but after blending I realized it was perfect.
Okay, primer is dry so it’s time to put on the foundation! I use a brush to apply my foundation (I’ve evolved from my fingers and sponges – it’s a personal preference) so I started out light. I wasn’t getting the coverage I wanted so I went a little more liberal with product. I did half of my face so I could get an accurate feel for the coverage, I was very pleased.
I finished with setting powder, eye liner, mascara and a light blush and gloss. I’m pretty excited about the results and love how even my complexion looks. The foundation is a little more runny than I prefer, but it works. It also really does help hide my ginormous pores which is a definite bonus.
For the price tag ( $14.95 at mass drug retailers across the country) I’d definitely buy this and use it on a regular basis.
