Easter Bunny Cookie Basket – Tate’s Bake Shop Review

Finally, Spring is in the air! What better way to celebrate than with some extra special goodies from Tate’s Bake Shop.

Easter Bunny Cookie Basket

When my Easter Bunny Cookie Basket arrived I was beyond eager to tear into it, especially since I was home alone and not in the mood to share. As soon as I opened the box I saw a cute Spring inspired basket filled with mouthwatering cookies. Chocolate Chip, Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip, Double Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Chip Cookie Bark. I knew it was just a matter of time before someone found out these goodies were in the house. I had to act fast!

Just opening the basket, not the cookies, I could smell the chocolaty goodness that was inside each individually wrapped stack of cookies. Which one to sample first?

How do you decide which cookie to try first?!

Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip CookiesTo make the decision easier I decided to go left to right. On the far left was the Whole Wheat Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies. I’ve told you before Dark Chocolate was my favorite chocolate, so needless to say I loved these. Absolutely, positively loved them. They are crispy and taste so incredibly fresh. If the thought of whole wheat cookies throws you off don’t let it. You can’t even tell the difference!

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Next up we had the Double Chocolate Chip Cookies. If that doesn’t scream eat me then I don’t know what does!  These cookies are definitely packing flavor. The melt in your mouth chocolate chips paired with the chocolate cookie itself are out of this world delicious. They’re not quite as crispy as the other cookies which is a positive thing in my book. I love texture variations especially when there are multiple types of goodies.

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Alright, the next cookie was the Chocolate Chip Cookies. Now, you may be saying there can’t be anything overly special about these.

You would be wrong (sorry!)

I make really good Chocolate Chip Cookies, but I can’t come close to the magic Kathleen King (founder of Tate’s Bake Shop) creates. The crispness alone of these cookies are to die for. One bite and my eyes closed and I was taken back to my childhood eating my Granny’s cookies. Don’t tell her but Kathleen’s are better (shhh!) They are thin and crispy and so full of buttery goodness. Each bite is an experience in its own.

Chocolate Chip Cookie BarkFinally we have the Chocolate Chip Cookie Bark. Not technically a cookie but I won’t tell if you don’t tell! Can I just say first, Holy chocolate Batman! These babies are covered with adorable Easter themed sprinkles and chocked full of chocolate flavor with a slight bit of crispiness in the center. The textures combined made my taste buds do a happy dance.

I’m not even going to try to pick a favorite. It’s impossible. Everything in the Easter Bunny Cookie Basket is delicious.

These are not commercial cookies. They’re not full of preservatives and unpronounceable ingredients. They’re made fresh to order in Southampton, NY. If you’re in the area you have to stop in. I may have to plan a special trip to New York just to visit Tate’s Bake Shop!

Homemade Shake & Bake

I might be showing my age here but those Shake and Bake commercials from my childhood were just the cutest thing. “It’s Shake and Bake, (in a deep country accent) and I helped” was simply adorable! I’m sure that has something to do with why I love Shake and Bake today, I just don’t love the price or not having control over the ingredients. That’s why I started making my own and I love that I can customize each batch so there’s never a dull meal.

Shake & Bake

It couldn’t be easier to mix up your own homemade shake and bake mix at home for a fraction of the price you’ll pay in a store. Here is my basic recipe and a few alterations you can try. Feel free to play around with the ingredients and measurements to suit your tastes.

Homemade Shake & Bake

You might be tempted to omit the vegetable oil from the recipe, but don’t. Believe it or not it’s actually pretty important to helping the mixture stick to meats (or veggies) and maybe even enhances the flavor. I just know I’ve tried it without the oil and it’s nowhere near as good.

I received this product for free from Smiley360 in exchange for my honest review.

When I add spice to my homemade shake and bake the taste is amazing, but the sour stomach and heartburn aren’t. That’s why I stuck with Nexium 24HR long after the 30 day challenge ended. It does such an amazing job preventing heartburn and I will never look back. It’s a very freeing feeling to be able to eat what I want and not stress about the after effect. One purple pill a day and I’m heartburn free; who doesn’t love that?!

I highly recommend taking the Nexium 24HR challenge so you can enjoy the foods you love without the heartburn.
