Did you know there are tons of uses for dish soap besides doing the dishes and making bubbles at home? I can’t even begin to count all the dish soap uses to simplify your life but I will share a few of the most creative.

5 Creative Uses for Dish Soap

  • Clean makeup brushes – Add a few drops of dish soap to hot water and soak brushes for 30 minutes or so. Massage the bristles with your fingers to work the soap through and loosen up the makeup. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
  • Kill fleas – If Fido has fleas then using a few drops of dish soap mixed with lukewarm water to wash him will get rid of the pesky parasites.
  • Kill weeds – Mix a few squirts of dish soap in a spray bottle with 1 cup of vinegar and a few tablespoons of salt. Shake it up and spray directly on intruding weeds.
  • DIY ice pack – Whether you need to keep packed lunches cool, alleviate sunburn or prevent a black eye ice packs are an essential staple in any home. Make your own by filling a Ziploc bag 1/3 of the way full with dish soap. Freeze and use when needed.
  • Clean your home – Use dish soap to replace other cleaners! Use it to mop your floors, clean your fixtures and even as a spot treatment for stains.

One of my favorite ways to use dish detergent is to create a stained glass effect on the windows. When I use Palmolive Dish Soap I get an extra bonus in the form of incredible aromas. Not to mention it’s tough on grease, but soft on hands!

Since Palmolive has so many great smelling dish soaps I choose them over other brands. Making the paint is super simple and when you’re ready to take it off you’ll have spotless windows!

It’s a double win.

Start by deciding how many colors you’ll use. Get a separate container for each color and add a few squirts of dish soap to each. Use food coloring to dye the dish soap and feel free to be bold. Play around until you get the colors you want.

Find a stencil or freehand a design on the window and allow to dry. Once it’s dry you can go back and buff out any drips then – voila! You have your own stained glass effect at home without the ridiculous price tag that comes with it.
