There’s a big difference in sleeping and sleeping well. Wouldn’t you agree?
I’m sure there are some people who would argue any sleep is good sleep but for those of us who have slept well we know the difference. When you just sleep there’s no real comfort or joy involved. When you sleep well you wake up feeling rested and sometimes even energized. There’s little to no aches and pains and the wrong side of the bed concept doesn’t really exist.
Sleeping well is one of the best feelings in the world and until you’ve experienced it you won’t know what you’re missing.
So how do you sleep well?
Getting the best night’s sleep possible isn’t impossible or even truly difficult. With these 5 tips you’ll be on your way to sleeping well by bedtime.
The first step to a good night’s sleep is to get your bed in order. Clean sheets are a must, don’t skip this part! You may be tempted to forgo the sheets all together but again, don’t do that! The difference between fresh linens and no linens (or not-so-fresh linens) is a good night’s sleep.
Once you have your sheets in order you’re going to need something comfy to rest your head on. I’m a pillow fanatic so I have tons of them on hand but have recently added two more to my boudoir. These are from Blu Sleep Products (who provided the pillows for review) and are designed to give you the best night’s sleep possible. For real!
If you have trouble falling asleep due to stress or body aches then the Vibrance pillow is a great choice. It is made with natural lavender oils that are commonly used to reduce stress and anxiety. The calming scent also provides relief from pain in muscles and joints. The highly ventilated foam pillow is protected by a Tencel cover that is treated with silver clear. This is soft and supple and has incredible wicking abilities – perfect for night sweaters.
If you find yourself emotional at bedtime then the Synergy pillow may be the right fit for you. It is made with Natural Orange Essential Oils, used for its calming effects. The orange oils are known to lift the spirit while providing a calming influence on the body. It also relaxes muscular and nervous spasms and alleviates anxiety, anger and depression.
Both of these pillows adapt to your body and shape and hugs you. I have been using them both for over a month now and they are amazing! The lavender scent is still present (it’s in no way overwhelming) and helps me fall asleep soundly every night. The Synergy pillow is great too since I get hot at night and it does an amazing job at keeping me cool. I don’t need to constantly flip it to find a cool side, which was a big cause of me not sleeping well before.
Another tip for getting a great night’s sleep is to go to bed satisfied – not hungry and not stuffed but satisfied. Putting a time cap on food and drink intake can be difficult but it will have a huge impact on your sleep (or lack thereof).
Another reason for not getting a good night’s rest is simply because you’re not tired. We’ve all been there a time or two: you have a set time you need to be up but falling asleep isn’t easy when you are not tired. Increasing your physical activity during the day will leave your body craving rest by days end.
It may also be necessary to cut out nap time to improve your nightly sleep quality.
These are my 5 tips for the best night’s rest, based on what works for me. What is working for you?
I highly encourage you to visit the Blu Sleep Products website to find a pillow that is perfect for you. They have a wide variety to choose from and your best night’s sleep may very well start with them!

If you have had any kind of surgery then you know the struggle of post-anesthesia coughing. It’s one of the worst parts of surgery in my opinion and it can be very scary. The fear (and pain) is especially present with surgery involving the torso, where coughing puts strain on the incision site. The slightest post-op throat tickle incites terror in me. My biggest fear is pulling a stitch/staple and opening the incision followed by the thought of getting pneumonia. Definitely not fun.
One of the first things you’re taught after surgery is how to splint your cough. This is firmly (but gently) pulling a pillow onto the incision area before coughing in order to prevent excessive pain or opening your incision. It’s not the most pleasant feeling in the world but it sure beats the alternative; coughing without splinting hurts far worse.
Before my emergency surgery I received a pillow from Essentia Mattress to test out (sent for review purposes). I’m a pillow hoarder so of course I was stoked to get another. I had a few days to test drive the all-natural memory foam pillow at home. It didn’t take me but maybe 4 minutes to actually fall in love with the pillow. As soon as I opened the box and pulled it out I was smitten. The weight alone put a smile on my face – I like my pillows a little on the heavy side. This comes in handy when I have a headache (I put pillows on my head and apply pressure to relieve headaches… don’t judge me!)
What really sold me on this pillow though was how awesome it was while I was in the hospital.
When I came to after the surgery my mom was by my side and asked what I wanted from home. Unlike a planned surgery, emergency surgery usually leaves you with just the gown on your back while you’re admitted. I asked for my phone charger, my laptop, and my pillow. I’m a simple girl 🙂 She came back with everything and suddenly being stuck in the hospital wasn’t so bad. I seriously had everything I needed to make the next few days bearable.
The pillow served dual purposes. Not only did it help me sleep comfortably, it was perfect for splinting my coughing. The weight and density were perfect and alleviated so much pain. I tried with the hospital pillows and they just didn’t cut it. The best part was the different nurses coming in to feel the pillow, asking where it came from. They were shocked when I told them it was made from all-natural memory foam; they didn’t realize that was possible.
In fact, not many people realize this is possible which would explain why Essentia Mattress is the only company in the world to offer Natural Memory Foam. That may not seem like a huge deal on the surface, but it really is. For starters, traditional memory foam can contain harmful VOC’s and carry a foul chemical odor.
Another added bonus was the fabric that encased the pillow. It is neutral in color, making it ideal from male and females. The simple striped pattern makes it attractive but not too busy. Even better it is made with unbleached organic cotton that is durable and breathable. The case zips and unzips, making cleaning it a breeze.
I’m still loving the pillow and carry it around like Linus with his blanket. It’s just the right amount of thickness for me to sleep like a baby and not have to continuously ‘fluff’ it up. The memory foam is incredible and being a pillow picker (I wiggle my fingers around incessantly) love the way it feels. To say I’m happy with my new Essentia Pillow would be an understatement! I think the only thing better would be one of Essentia’s natural memory foam mattresses!
Here are a few fast facts about the world’s only natural foam mattress:
- Essentia has patents – unique to Essentia is their natural memory foam, the only one of it’s kind in the world.
- Full Transparency…like a food label – Essentia shares the ingredients used to make their foam and the VOC report so you can be sure it’s healthy.
- The most recommended bed in America, BUT NATURAL – all other memory foam mattresses are made from petroleum-based chemicals.
- No animals were harmed in the making of this mattress – many industry-leading mattresses use a ton of animal bi-products. Essentia does not!
- Essentia offers a mattress for every budget, starting at $1790 for a queen. Around a 20 years lifespan – probably outlasting any other important purchase like a car!

So when I told you about my new Highrise™ Folding Bed Frame I didn’t go into detail about the new Linen Spa 12″ Plush Mattress by Lucid 1 word could describe it perfectly – heaven. 12 inches of body hugging heaven. It’s probably my favorite bedding upgrade.
When the 12″ Plush Mattress by Lucid arrived I was eager to watch it expand from it’s limp state to the full, plush mattress I have today. It took about 24 hours to fully expand and once it did I was ready to try it out.
I was a little skeptical when I first laid on the mattress. It wasn’t one of those “love at first touch” moments for me. It was actually a little uncomfortable. I gave it a few minutes and while my body was adjusting to the 12″ Plush Mattress by Lucid I noticed how different it was from any of my old mattresses. It was firm but not so firm it was uncomfortable. The longer I laid there the more comfortable it got.
After about a week of sleeping on the 12” Plush Mattress by Lucid I started wondering where it had been my whole life. My back wasn’t aching like it normally was and I wasn’t waking myself up tossing and turning. If I did roll over it was completely silent unlike my previous mattress. You know those mattresses that crinkle when you move? Yea that’s what I was sleeping on. I don’t miss it in the slightest and can’t imagine sleeping on anything but a Memory Foam Mattress from now on.
The mattress fits perfectly on the Highrise™ Folding Bed Frame. Together they make sleeping something I look forward to rather than dread. I can highly recommend the Linen Spa 12” Plush Mattress to anyone looking for a better nights sleep. The difference it has made for me is beyond amazing.
Be sure to check out the insane sale happening now over at Linen Spa. They currently have 1500 overstock items in the warehouse that need to sell ASAP. They knocked the prices down to around cost to move them quick. At these prices they definitely won’t be around too long, check them out!
Sleep. As parents it’s the one thing we always seem to want more of and never get. From the first day we bring baby home to the day the last one heads off to college we struggle to get those much needed z’s. It’s even worse when we’re sleeping on an uncomfortable bed or mattresses.
I know you know what I’m talking about!
My sleep ritual has recently gotten an upgrade thanks to Linen Spa. I got a bedroom makeover including a new mattress, bed frame, pillows, sheets and a comforter. You can imagine how excited I was.
The first thing I want to talk about is the Linen Spa Highrise™ Folding Bed frames. It was ridiculous how easy it was to set up. All I had to do was snap the legs into place on each end. Then I just added the connector to the 2 frames to make them one king size frame. That was it. See – ridiculously easy! You don’t need tools or any special equipment, just unpack it and set it up.
The Highrise™ Folding Bed frame eliminates the need for a box spring and offers up to 45 cubic feet of under bed storage space. There is 13 inches of clearance! That’s a big deal for me since I don’t have any closet space in my room. This allows me to keep some stuff stored neatly under the bed. There’s just nothing like a Platform Bed Frame!
The Linen Spa Highrise™ Folding Bed frame has a 2500 pound weight capacity. That means you can have the entire family and the pets on the bed without an issue!
What I really love about the Highrise™ Folding Bedframe is it makes no noise. I hate a squeaky bed or one that lets you hear every time someone moves around. So annoying. I can jump and bounce and hear nothing with this! The Highrise™ Folding Bed frame comes with a 5 year warranty which is great. I don’t foresee any problems though. I’ve been sleeping on it for 2 weeks and it’s still as great as the first day. If I ever need to move the bed it folds up just as easily as it sets up so I can move it without any issue.
I’m loving the Linen Spa Highrise™ Folding Bed frame and can’t imagine going back to the old frame and box spring again. Be sure to check them out and see how you sleep thanks to Linen Spa!
