When I was younger I laughed when anyone said they had heartburn. It seemed like a ridiculous concept and just couldn’t wrap my head around it. Fast forward to my mid twenties and I finally understood what the big deal was.

Heartburn is the worst!

I got to the point where I couldn’t even look at spicy food without that familiar burning sensation coming over me. There have been a few times I seriously thought I was going to die because it hurt so bad. Between the heartburn and acid reflux I have had to drastically change what I eat. This means giving up on food I love, like anything spicy.

Sausage and peppers for one

When my gallbladder came out I assumed that was the end of my heartburn and had to test the theory. The first time I ate spicy food things were fine for the first hour afterwards. Then it hit me. The sour taste in the back of my throat and the burning sensation in my chest. My problems weren’t over and I was so sick of feasting on antacids. It was time for a change and I knew there had to be a simpler solution.

There is a simple solution for all day heartburn relief!


The solution I found that is working to stop my frequent heartburn is Nexium 24HR. It is one Purple Pill a day and I am back to enjoying the food I love without suffering. Sausage & Peppers for One

In celebration of my new-found freedom from heartburn I decided to make one of my favorite simple meals. Sausage and Peppers is one of those dishes I used to hate to love. I missed it so much and being able to finally enjoy it again was amazing.  I’m sharing my simple Sausage and Peppers recipe with you now and if you have frequent heartburn be sure to head to Walgreen’s to pick up some Nexium24HR!

Sausage & Peppers Recipe – Heartburn Be Gone! #ChooseNexium24HR

  • 1 Italian sausage (I use the spicy kind), sliced into 1 - 2 inch pieces
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, cut into strips
  • 1 red pepper, seeded and cut into strips
  • 1 green pepper, seeded and cut into strips
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil


Heat the oil on medium heat in a large pan and fully cook the sausage.

Add the vegetables and seasoning and sautee until the onions are translucent.

Turn the heat down to low and cook uncovered for 10 minutes.

Serve on a sub roll.
