Keeping it simple starts at home. Take a look at your shampoo, body wash, conditioner… all your beauty products. What’s on the labels? Chances are unless you’re already using green products the ingredients are less than desirable.
Acure offers 100% natural and biodegradable products for your skin and for the planet.Their products contain no 100% natural, biodegradable, and contain no petrochemicals, sulfates, parabens, phthalates, formaldehyde donors, petrochemicals/petroleum by-products, synthetic fragrances, gluten or soy.
Even the Acure manufacturing facility is gluten-free.
Acure uses only non-GMO ingredients (70% of which are organic) and they are in the process of applying for non-GMO certification! Keep an eye on the Acure website and packaging to see when this happens. 6 of their products are 100% certified organic. These are:
- Argan oil
- Seriously Firming Facial Serum
- Line Eraser
- Dark Chocolate + Mint lip balm
- Seriously Hydrating Toner
- Balancing Toner
The fact that they use only a small amount of pure distilled essential oils make Acure a great choice even for those with sensitive skin. Another huge bonus: Leaping Bunny and PETA certify Acure to be cruelty free! They even offer mostly (all but 4 [Line Eraser and Lip Balm due to beeswax, and the Night Cream and Radical Wrinkle Complex because they use enzymes derived from milk and honey to preserve them]) vegan products. All other products have an ensured shelf life of 2 years. Waste not, want not!
I received several items from Acure to test and experience. My roommate and I have been using these products for a couple weeks now and both of us are impressed. Here’s what we received and what we think:
The Acure Eye Cream is a lightweight formula that is much more comfortable for day use. It has 2% Chlorella Growth Factor which is even more powerful to the thin tissue around the eyes but really great for anyone who is concerned with puffiness and dark circles. The edelweiss stem cell provides firming support prevents collagen loss and has shown a 15% reduction in wrinkle depth around the eye area in 20 days!
*The consistency of this cream is so nice. It’s thick but not too thick and feels incredible when using it. I don’t really have an issue with puffiness or wrinkles so I can’t give a definitive insight on the outcome, but it sounds like they know what they’re doing!
Exfoliating Body Wash
The Acure Exfoliating Body Wash formula has an invigorating blend of peppermint and rosemary to really get your day going! It’s great for anyone, but especially for those that struggle with chest or back acne or an overproduction of oil in those areas. It contains lilac stem cell to balance hydration levels in the skin and also act as an anti-fungal and anti-inflammatory in the skin tissue. Jojoba beads aid in gentle exfoliation of the entire body while Argan oil hydrates and CoQ10 aids in increased circulation.
Argan Stem Cell + CoQ10 dry shampoo
The Acure dry shampoo, we’ve found this silky, light clay to be a helpful means of excess oil absorption while adding texture and volume without depleting the hydration of the scalp or weighing the hair down. Plus, this dry shampoo contains CoQ10 for healthy circulation and Argan Stem Cell for healthy hair retention. However, it is really important upon application to work it into the hair and scalp well, so that there is no chalky or white residue.
*I’m not a huge fan of dry shampoo. I can see the benefit of it for travel purposes, but it just doesn’t compare to lathering up in the shower for me. I have yet to master working this into my hair/scalp so as not to get that yucky residue. I definitely don’t want to walk around making it snow on everyone. But, again, I can totally see the benefit of using dry shampoo.
Lemongrass + Argan Stem Cell Leave-in Conditioner
The Acure leave-in Conditioner will balance the hair and provide moisture control. It can also be used as a de-tangler, restyling tool or to reactivate texture and curl pattern in hair. This product is great to use for all hair types, in wet or dry hair. This light, spicy-smelling spray formula includes our USDA certified organic Argan oil, so I find that it’s the simplest way to incorporate Argan oil into my hair care. I like to spray the conditioner into my hands and then work through the roots and ends of the hair. You’ll be left with smooth, soft, more manageable hair. The leave-in conditioner will help protect the hair from environmental and styling stressors like UV light and heat styling tools, while improving the integrity of the hair fiber and promoting smoothness and shine.
*Leave-in Conditioner is one of my favorite things ever. With the amount of damage that my hair has endured it needs all the conditioning it can get. I love how my hair feels after using this and it is great at on the spot detangling. I’m not crazy about the smell but I have definitely smelled worse.
Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Shampoo & Conditioner
The Acure Pure Mint + Echinacea Stem Cell Shampoo/Conditioner are best for fine/limp hair and for hair that needs volume. The Echinacea stem cells are going to help at the follicular level to restore hydration and strengthen the hair structure. As the hair structure strengthens, this will allow the hair cuticle to grow to its full potential. Vegetable protein from quinoa will slightly coat the hair and protect it from breakage as the pro-vitamin 5 will help with protein development. Finally, babassu oil helps restore elasticity to the hair while cocoa butter protects hair from UV exposure and helps ward off chlorine deposits from water or swimming pools. The 100% distilled essential oil of peppermint and rosemary make this blend refreshing and invigorating.
*Since my hair has started to shed (that’s putting it lightly) I’m finding it almost lifeless. It hangs there like a limp noodle most days, no bounce, no volume. Just dull, struggling to thrive hair. Since using this shampoo/conditioner combo I’m seeing a little more pep in my step shining through my hair. It’s not nearly as crunchy as it was ad I do believe it is getting stronger. All things I dream of happening with my hair!
All in all these items are incredible. Some are better than others (in my opinion) but each and every one has it’s highlights. If you’re looking for a more green beauty routine then Acure is the way to go. Tess and I are happy with the results we’ve seen, and she has staked claim to the shampoo/conditioner combo.
