There’s a big difference in sleeping and sleeping well. Wouldn’t you agree?
I’m sure there are some people who would argue any sleep is good sleep but for those of us who have slept well we know the difference. When you just sleep there’s no real comfort or joy involved. When you sleep well you wake up feeling rested and sometimes even energized. There’s little to no aches and pains and the wrong side of the bed concept doesn’t really exist.
Sleeping well is one of the best feelings in the world and until you’ve experienced it you won’t know what you’re missing.
Getting the best night’s sleep possible isn’t impossible or even truly difficult. With these 5 tips you’ll be on your way to sleeping well by bedtime.
The first step to a good night’s sleep is to get your bed in order. Clean sheets are a must, don’t skip this part! You may be tempted to forgo the sheets all together but again, don’t do that! The difference between fresh linens and no linens (or not-so-fresh linens) is a good night’s sleep.
Once you have your sheets in order you’re going to need something comfy to rest your head on. I’m a pillow fanatic so I have tons of them on hand but have recently added two more to my boudoir. These are from Blu Sleep Products (who provided the pillows for review) and are designed to give you the best night’s sleep possible. For real!
If you have trouble falling asleep due to stress or body aches then the Vibrance pillow is a great choice. It is made with natural lavender oils that are commonly used to reduce stress and anxiety. The calming scent also provides relief from pain in muscles and joints. The highly ventilated foam pillow is protected by a Tencel cover that is treated with silver clear. This is soft and supple and has incredible wicking abilities – perfect for night sweaters.
If you find yourself emotional at bedtime then the Synergy pillow may be the right fit for you. It is made with Natural Orange Essential Oils, used for its calming effects. The orange oils are known to lift the spirit while providing a calming influence on the body. It also relaxes muscular and nervous spasms and alleviates anxiety, anger and depression.
Both of these pillows adapt to your body and shape and hugs you. I have been using them both for over a month now and they are amazing! The lavender scent is still present (it’s in no way overwhelming) and helps me fall asleep soundly every night. The Synergy pillow is great too since I get hot at night and it does an amazing job at keeping me cool. I don’t need to constantly flip it to find a cool side, which was a big cause of me not sleeping well before.
Another tip for getting a great night’s sleep is to go to bed satisfied – not hungry and not stuffed but satisfied. Putting a time cap on food and drink intake can be difficult but it will have a huge impact on your sleep (or lack thereof).
Another reason for not getting a good night’s rest is simply because you’re not tired. We’ve all been there a time or two: you have a set time you need to be up but falling asleep isn’t easy when you are not tired. Increasing your physical activity during the day will leave your body craving rest by days end.
It may also be necessary to cut out nap time to improve your nightly sleep quality.
These are my 5 tips for the best night’s rest, based on what works for me. What is working for you?
I highly encourage you to visit the Blu Sleep Products website to find a pillow that is perfect for you. They have a wide variety to choose from and your best night’s sleep may very well start with them!
